The
idea of starting PENSA –KNUST was mooted at the
General Witness Movement Convention held in August 1979,
at Sunyani, which was attended by a substantial number
of the Church of Pentecost members form the University
of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
Members
of the Church of Pentecost who were instrumental in
the formation of PENSA included Elder Anim of blessed
memory and Nkansah, both lecturers of KNUST who served
as pioneer patrons.
Although the group started with 33 members, the following
brothers and sisters who were all students of KNUST
culminated the founding fathers: Stephen Ampofo, Joshua
Adjabeng, Peter Ayerkwa, J.S.Gyimah, Offei Awuku, Constance
Nkansah and Georgette Sackey.
Apostle Egyir Painstil, Apostle F.D. Walker, Apostle
F.S. Sarfo and Apostle A.T. Nartey all of blessed memory
played key roles in the formation of PENSA KNUST.
The
founding members also include Emmanuel Obeng, the first
president,Alex Asilevi, Isaac Ghansah, Ken Aboah, Adjei
Wood, Joseph Paintsil, Thomas Coleman, Adutu Amakye,
Rebecca Yankson, Joseph Lamptey, Betty Ennin, Oheneba
Amponsah, Amponsah Nyarko, Adjei Danso, and Mrs. Obeng.
Also members of the Assemblies of God, Christ Apostolic
Church, and Calvary Road Singers were pioneer Associate
members.
ACTIVITIES
PENSA
was the strongest pioneer Church group on Campus which
introduced Pentecostalism and the work of the Holy Spirit
to believers on Campus.
In
addition PENSA members played key leadership roles in
the Inter-Hall Christian Fellowship producing Presidents
like Joshua Adjabeng and George Amponsah, Wing leaders
like Isaac Ghansah, Ken Aboah, Isaac Ollenu, Isaac Banka,
Geoffrey Arthur just to mention a few.
Tarry nights prayer meetings, retreats to villages,
evangelism, the first organized at Nsuaem in 1981 and
since been an annual programme.
The activities of PENSA took a new dimension after 1990/1
academic year when Inter- Tertiary Institutions (ITI)
–PENSA came into being to actually strengthen
and sustain the vision of PENSA in the tertiary institutions.
The role of PENSA KNUST in the past years need not be
over-emphasized. The normal Sunday services could no
longer be held neither at Africa Hall Chapel nor the
games room. Consequently services at the dining hall
started.

She
played significant role in enhancing the formation of
PENSA at the University of Cape |Coast in 1989 and Legon
in 1990. University of Development Studies at Nyankpala
in January 1999.
The
vision of the mother church and its tenants have always
been the main focus of PENSA-KNUST resulting in the
production of many Pastors, full time workers and elders

churches. These include Prophet J.S. Gyimah, Evangelist
Peter Ayerakwa, Pastor Adjei Danso, Pastor Joshua Adjabeng,
Joseph Ampene, Rev. Samuel Asante, Rev. Solomon Odame.,

CURRENT STATE
PENSA-KNUST
has maintained its focus and balance and has not compromised
with this disguising world.
The
current challenges of the youth on our campus are many
and varied and one can easily be swayed by the tremendous
immoral influence or the powerful sexual drive propelled
by the semi-nude ladies, or false doctrines or even
deceptive and illicit relationships.
PENSA
-KNUST is unique and has been an example to many on
campus. Majority of our members earnestly continue to
uphold the invaluable apostolic doctrines.
It’s
our highest priority to keep to the principles of the
sound doctrine of the church so that the church of Pentecost
can boast of a Kingdom-minded youth.
